Law Enforcement Activity on Richardson's Bay
During the evening and early morning hours of Saturday, September 24, 2011, twenty-four (24) officers from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies conducted directed patrol on Richardson’s Bay in order to address crime, boating safety, and quality of life issues on the bay and along the Sausalito Waterfront. The results of the six (6) hour directed patrol were:
• 20 vessels stopped for various violations.
• 3 subjects were arrested (Boating Under the Influence of
Alcohol, $10,000 Warrant, and Probation Violation).
• 5 citations for various safety violations.
• 12 vessels were inspected for proper safety equipment.
• 6 vessels were searched due to the terms of the owner’s
probation or on the consent of the owner.
• 1 stolen vessel was recovered.
Patrol vessels from the Sausalito Police Department, Marin County Sheriff’s Office, San Rafael Police Department and the United States Coast Guard were used during this operation. The officers that participated in this operation came from the Sausalito Police Department’s Marine Patrol Unit, Marin County Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Patrol Unit, Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coordination of Probation Enforcement, Marin County Adult Probation, San Rafael Police Department’s Marine Patrol Unit, United States Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, United States Coast Guard Investigative Service, United States Coast Guard Sector San Francisco, and the California Department of Fish and Game.
