DAUPHIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HOST WORKSHOP FOR RESIDENTS AND SMALL BUSINESSES OF LOWER PAXTON TWP. AFFECTED BY AUGUST 6-7, 2011 FLOOD
HARRISBURG, PA (September 12, 2011)—
Residents and businesses of Lower Paxton Twp. Dauphin County that were affected by the August 6-7, 2011 flooding and high water events are invited to attend a workshop being conducted jointly by Dauphin County Emergency Management Agency and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to report any damages related to the flooding. If enough damages are reported, the victims of this flooding/high water could possibly qualify for low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to assist in restoring their personal property and homes to a livable condition.
In order for the Commonwealth to request an SBA Disaster Declaration, a minimum of 25 homeowners, renters and/or businesses with little or no insurance to cover the damages is needed to qualify. If the SBA Disaster Declaration is declared, no one is obligated to take a loan; everyone is encouraged to report damages so that all uninsured losses are reported and so that those who want to apply for the low-interest loan will be able to do.
Dauphin County officials are asking anyone affected by the August 6-7, 2011 flooding/high water to report to the Lower Paxton Township Municipal Office Center, 425 Prince St, Lower Paxton Twp, on September 21, 2011 from 11am to 7pm to meet with officials as part of the county’s effort to qualify for an SBA Disaster Declaration. Those who can’t attend the workshop are asked to call Dauphin County Emergency Management Agency at 717-558-6800 between the hours of 8 am and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
