Benicia Police arrest two for auto burglaries in the apartment complex on Rankin Way.

On 09/13/2011, Benicia PD patrol officers investigated several auto burglaries/thefts that had occurred at an apartment complex at 150 Rankin Way in the City of Benicia earlier in the morning. One of the vehicles had a window broken and several electronic items including a laptop computer and credit cards were stolen. Another vehicle that was unlocked was entered and gold coins, a GPS device and numerous compact discs were taken. At approximately 5:00 a.m. on 09/13/2011, the stolen credit card was used at a local gas station/convenience store a block from the apartment complex. Video surveillance captured a male and female suspect using the credit card and showed a possible suspect vehicle.

On the evening of 09/13/2011 at approximately 11:55 p.m., Benicia PD Officer Aldo Serrano was patrolling the parking lot of the apartment complex at 150 Rankin Way. He located a vehicle matching the description observed in the surveillance video. Sitting inside the vehicle was the same subject seen in the surveillance video. Inside the car, police recovered stolen property from the previous burglaries, and items purchased with the stolen credit card. Another female subject was seen walking away from this vehicle and trying to avoid police contact. She too was contacted and subsequently arrested.

Arrested was Eric Steven Norlin 41 yrs old from Concord, CA. He was charged with 496 PC (possessing stolen property), 484(g) PC (using a stolen credit card) and 182 PC (criminal conspiracy). Also arrested was Sierra Nicole Schieber 31 yrs old (Transient). She was charged with 496 PC (possessing stolen property), 647(i) PC (prowling), and 182 PC (criminal conspiracy). Both subjects were transported and booked into Fairfield Branch County Jail.

This is a great example of an alert police officer being active on his beat and following up on leads and information learned to prevent more burglaries from occurring.

Anybody with further information related to this case is encouraged to contact Lt. Mike Daley at (707)590-4259.
