NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, September 6, 2011 DUI Campaign FINAL REPORT Day 18 of 18 – Through Monday, September 5, 2011 Total Arrests 209 DUI Arrests 175 DUI Probation Arrests 7 DUI Warrant Arrests 27 DUI Crashes 5 Fatal DUI Crashes 0 Fatal DUI Victims 0 Injury DUI Crashes 5 Injured DUI Victims 6 AVOID the 13 DUI Task Force FINAL CAMPAIGN RESULTS 175 Arrested for DUI 5 INJURY CRASHES NO FATAL DUI COLLISIONS [Sonoma County, CA] – The Avoid the 13 Sonoma County DUI Task Force announced the final results of the 18 day anti-DUI campaign that began Friday, August 19, 2011 and concluded at midnight Labor Day (last night) September 5, 2011. The DUI Task Force recorded a total of 209 arrests during the campaign. Of those arrested, 162 drivers were arrested for DUI during roving DUI patrols. Another 13 DUI arrests came from four checkpoints on August 18th, 19th in Petaluma and September 1st and 2nd in Santa Rosa. A DUI Task Force Operation on Friday night August 26, 2011 targeted DUI probationers and netted 7 additional arrests for probation violations. On Sunday, August 28th, the DUI task force conducted a DUI warrant sweep from 9am to 5pm. Twenty five law enforcement officers from all 13 agencies in the county attempted to serve 124 DUI warrants. Officers arrested 27 DUI warrant offenders during the campaign. During the campaign, there were 5 injury DUI collisions that injured 6 people. There were NO FATAL CRASHES reported. The Anti-DUI Campaigns are working. DUI arrests for the Summer Mobilization Period have increased to their highest level in three years. At the same time, DUI collisions are at their lowest in the same reporting period. DUI arrests are up 12% from the 2010 Summer Mobilization Period from 155 to 175. While DUI crashes have dropped 37% from 2010 from 8 to 5. There have been ZERO fatal crashes in the all of the DUI campaign periods for the last three years. In the last three summer campaigns there have been 21 injury DUI collisions that have injured 26 people. The next DUI campaign period with the Winter Mobilization Period from the middle of December through New Years day. The national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown is led by NHTSA with the California Avoid DUI Task Force Campaign combining high-visibility enforcement and heightened public awareness through publicity.
