Saddle Brook Building Dept representatives are out in the field assessing residences in flooded areas. They will attempt to assess and provide relevant information and processes as much as possible and as may be applicable.
DEBRIS & OTHER SOLID WASTE
Debris, garbage and other household solid waste will be picked up on a regular and continual basis as needed. Place at curbs at and near your residence for removal.
GAS & ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE DISRUPTION
If you have no GAS or ELECTRIC service to your residence or any gas appliance in the household, contact PSE&G at (800) 436-PSEG (7734).
NOTE: PSE&G cannot evaluate and service your specific issue until all water has been removed from your basement or where the appliance is located.
If you smell gas, immediately call 9-1-1 or Saddle Brook Police Department at (201) 843-7000.
REPLACEMENT OF GAS HOT WATER HEATER OR FURNACE/BOILER AND ELECTRIC SERVICE
The Township has waived all permit fees for building, plumbing and electrical permits. Work may be started prior to the issuance of the permit, provided that a permit application is received to the Township of Saddle Brook Building Department within 72 hours (3 days) of the start of the work.
INSURANCE AND FEMA CLAIMS
All property (including personal property) damages and losses MUST be reported to your homeowners or business insurance carrier to file a claim. All damages and losses should be documented and/or photographed where possible. Make a detailed list of all damaged items and areas of home or business. As soon as practical, obtain detailed estimates for proposed repairs. Once a Federal Disaster is declared, application for FEMA assistance can be made by calling FEMA’s automated hotline at (800) 525-0321 or online at www.fema.gov. Please be ready to provide FEMA your name, address, telephone number and social security number for verification. Once registered with FEMA, you will receive a registration number that you need to write down for future inquiry and reference. A FEMA inspector/assessor will then schedule an appointment to visit your home or business within a reasonable time period of the registration. Be prepared to give a copy of your applicable insurance policy, coverage and claim settlement or denial letter from your insurance carrier.
SCAMS AND PHONY LABOR AND/OR REPAIR SERVCES
Please be aware of door-to-door, unscrupulous persons purporting to provide services for labor and repairs to damaged properties. While the Township provides no list or recommendations of service providers, we do ask you to report any obvious scam or suspicious incidents to the Saddle Brook Police Department at (201) 843-7000. Please take note of any personal description and/or vehicle(s) including license plate number(s) for appropriate follow-up
