Power outage update Water & Ice distribution center
Earlier today Readington Township Office of Emergency Management participated in a conference call with JCP&L; They are still in what they describe as the “Cut & Run” phase where they are clearing roads and making the area safe. If during a “Cut & Run” they can restore power quickly they will do that, otherwise the crew moves on to the next hazardous location.
JCP&L expects to be in the restoration phase by tonight or early tomorrow (Wednesday 8/31). JCP&L will start the restoration by largest number of customers affected first. JCP&L does not expect to get power restored to individual outages until Saturday or Sunday. JCP&L has made arraignments with Shoprite in Clinton to supply water and ice free of charge to effected residents. Please go to the customer service desk upon arriving at Shoprite.
Readington Township understands this is a difficult time for our residents who have been without electricity for several days. We have made arraignments with Quick Check for township residents to receive ice and water. Any township resident living in an effected area may come to the municipal building for a supply of ice and water starting Wedneday 8/31/2011 from noon until 4:30pm, hours for the rest of the week are 9am – 4pm Thurday and Friday. We will continue to supply water and ice Monday – Friday , 9am – 4pm, until power is restored. If you can not make it during the above listed times, contact the police department for special arraingments.
Any resident needing other assistance is asked to call the police department at 908-534-4031; we will make every attempt to accommodate your request. We have no other information reguarding how long the power outage will last. Any new information will be disseminated as soon as we receive it.
