Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, reports at this time, there have been no major criminal incidents reported to Hunterdon County law enforcement during Hurricane Irene. In addition, there were no reported deaths in the County as a result of the storm.
Leading up to the State of Emergency, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office enacted a contingency plan to provide assistance to local and state law enforcement.
Detectives are currently assisting communities along the Delaware River.
On Sunday, Detectives responded to Stockton Borough, High Bridge, and the Town of Clinton to assist in evacuation efforts. Detectives also assisted Kingwood NJ State Police Troopers in a death investigation that was unrelated to the weather. Immediately following the Governor’s issuance of the State of Emergency, a Detective was assigned to assist at the County’s Emergency Operation Center.

We continue to meet with local officials to assist in their needs. Today, Detectives are currently providing relief to local and state law enforcement. We commend everyone for working tirelessly around the clock, including volunteer firefighters, EMS, CERT volunteers, Department of Public Safety, Sheriff’s Department, and State Police.
