Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced the arrest of one individual after an
investigation conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit.
Prosecutor Kearns said, “John Chiles, age 52, of Flemington was charged with one count of aggravated sex
assault (1st degree) and one count of sexual assault (2nd degree) on a child less than 13 years of age. The
sexual abuse occurred within the city limits of Lambertville.”
The Honorable Stephen B. Rubin, J.S.C. set bail for Chiles at $150,000 and he is currently being held in the
Hunterdon County Jail awaiting a first court appearance.
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed
innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
