HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 AM HST TUESDAY FOR RISING SURF ALONG SOUTH FACING SHORES OF ALL HAWAIIAN ISLANDS

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 AM HST TUESDAY FOR RISING SURF ALONG SOUTH FACING SHORES OF ALL HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.

A BUILDING SOUTH SWELL WILL CAUSE SURF HEIGHTS TO INCREASE TO THE HIGH SURF ADVISORY CRITERIA ALONG SOUTH FACING SHORES OF THE STATE STARTING THIS AFTERNOON. SURF HEIGHTS WILL REMAIN ELEVATED THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

SURF WILL INCREASE TO HEIGHTS OF 6 TO 8 FEET ALONG SOUTH
FACING SHORES.

LARGE BREAKING WAVES WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT LARGE BREAKING WAVES WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN THE ADVISORY AREA PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION.

SWIMMERS, SURFERS AND BEACH GOERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION UNTIL THE HIGH SURF ADVISORY EXPIRES. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT SURF CONDITIONS BE SURE TO CONSULT A CITY LIFEGUARD OR OTHER WATER SAFETY PERSONNEL WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
