COMMUNITY ALERT FROM THE MAGNOLIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

August 28, 2011 - 11:00AM

Attention Magnolia Residents:

Effective at 12:00pm (noon) on Sunday, 8/28/2011 the Borough of Magnolia’s local disaster/emergency proclamation will be lifted by the Office of Emergency Management. Normal traffic on local streets of Magnolia is authorized as of noon today. Although the state of emergency is being lifted, residents are encouraged to be mindful of falling and down tree limbs, potential flooding, and other residual issues associated with the storm.

Mayor BettyAnn Cowling-Carson, Director of Public Safety Councilman DePrince, Police Chief Robert Doyle, Police Lt. John Evans, Fire Chief Paul Wolf, Ambulance Captain Kim Berdine and Acting Public Works Superintendent Jay Miles, as well as the borough council, would like to thank all of the residents of the Borough of Magnolia for their diligence and cooperation during this local state of emergency. Fortunately no major damage or injuries were reported during the state of emergency in the borough.

Borough emergency first responders and public works crews did respond to several requests for public assistance during the emergency. The Mayor and Borough Council wish to thank the continued dedication of our Police Officers, Ambulance Crews, Fire Company Volunteers, and Public Works Staff who worked very hard to be prepared for and dealing with this emergency. All of these departments had crews housed in their respected facilities throughout the night, away from their families, ready to respond any emergency. Their continued dedication to the welfare of our community cannot be thanked enough.
