Full Notification

Just before 8:00pm, units responded to a fight in progress call in the 1100 block of Watson Springs Road. As they were en route, we were advised that there had been a shooting at that location. Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and called in medical units to treat the injured party.

An adult male fired a single round striking another adult male in the abdomen. The injured party was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center and is in surgery at the time of this advisory.

The shooter is cooperating with our investigation as are the witnesses to the incident. The shooter is not under arrest.

We are not releasing any names at this time do the investigation still being in progress. We will provide additional details when possible.
