Benicia Police Arrest 3 for Planning a Home Burglary

Kyle JONES, 28 years old, Napa resident was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary (felony), providing a false name (misdemeanor), being under the influence of drugs (misdemeanor), possession of burglary tools (misdemeanor), and a felony burglary warrant (bail $25,000) out of Napa County (no details of that burglary charge at this time).

Michael GIAMBASTIANI, 46 years old, Napa resident was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, and being under the influence of drugs.

Danielle CAMPBELL, 30 years old, Vallejo resident was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary, being under the influence of drugs, possession of burglary tools, probation violation, providing a false name to officers (a felony as she actually provided the true name of another person), and a no bail probation violation warrant out of Napa County. Campbell is on probation in Napa County for harboring a felon (Section 32 of the Penal Code).

Last night (August 5th), shortly after 1 am, Benicia Police Officer Kirk Keffer was patrolling the 2100 block of Columbus Parkway near the CVS / Starbucks shopping center.

Officer Keffer came across two subjects walking on foot who fled as he approached. He contacted a third subject, identified as Giambastiani. The two who fled were found hiding in tall grass near the shed by a private residence in the area. The two initially provided false names and were eventually identified as Jones and Campbell.

All three were under the influence of drugs and were in possession of "burglary tools" - walkie talkies, a police scanner, and various hand tools used to break into homes and cars. A vehicle the three drove to the area was found parked by Starbucks and had a spool of copper wire in the bed. The vehicle is owned by an acquaintance of one of the suspects who came to the scene to take possession of the vehicle (a Ford pick up truck).

One of the three admitted that they had burglarized a home on Columbus Parkway earlier in the day and were planning on returning at the time they were stopped to break into the home again. It was determined that the home was in Solano Sheriff's Office jurisdiction and Solano deputies responded to begin their investigation into the burglary.

"This excellent police work not only solved a crime, but prevented at least one additional crime from taking place," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "We're continuing our investigation to determine if these three are responsible for any thefts or crimes in Benicia."

For information on this press release, contact Lt. Mike Daley at (707)590-4259 or via e-mail. Anyone with information about these three subjects are asked to call Benicia Detective Sergeant Scott Przekurat at (707)746-4244 or, for possible reward information, those with information can call Solano County Crime Stoppers at (707)644-7867.
