Armed Robbery and Bomb Threat
Dearborn, Mi. β
August 3, 2011 at approximately 10:30 am, Dearborn Police responded to the Check and Go located at 15241 Michigan Avenue on a report of an Armed Robbery/Bomb threat. A 25-30 year old, b/m, wearing light colored blue jeans, a dark blue hoodie and sunglasses along with a 25-30 year old, b/f, wearing a Turquoise jacket and sunglasses approached employees. Both suspects were armed with handguns, demanded money and forced the employees to a corner of the store. The suspects advised employees they had a duffle bag that contained a bomb near the door and would activate the device if any of the employees attempted to follow them.
Police responded and evacuated the Check and Go and the adjacent businesses while conducting an investigation. The Dearborn Police Bomb Team evaluated the device and subsequently determined it was not an explosive device.
Chief Ronald Haddad stated, βIt is apparent that criminals are getting more brazen and desperate. The Dearborn Police will continue to do all we can to keep the community safe.β
