2 Suspects Charged in Connection with Home Invasion

Dearborn, Mi. —

On July 27, 2011 at approximately 9:30 am, Dearborn Police observed two subjects in the area of Audette and Village acting suspicious. Information was then broadcast that a resident saw 2 subjects with matching descriptions running through her yard. Officers made contact with the subjects to investigate and identified them as Jerome Ross and Darnelle Boothes. Boothes had a large amount of jewelry in his pocket. The caller who stated she observed Ross and Boothes run through her yard also located Boothes identification and more jewelry in front her home. Officers traced the jewelry back to a home on Nona street and discovered the home had been broken into. Further investigation revealed that a second home located around the corner on Outer Drive, had also been broken into. Both homeowners identified jewelry that had been taken from their homes.

Jerome Smith Ross, a 17 year old Detroit resident and Darnelle Lanail Boothes, a 26 year old Detroit resident were both charged with 2 counts of Home Invasion 2nd Degree.

A preliminary exam has been set for Friday, August 5, 2011 at 9:00 am in the 19th District Court.

Chief Ronald Haddad stated, “Citizens know their neighborhood and recognize when they see people and vehicles they are not familiar with. It is important that citizens contact the Dearborn Police Neighborhood tip line at 313-943-3030 to report any suspicious activity. More often than not it results in the identification of suspects involved in crimes in the area.”
