Dearborn, Mi. —
Once again video from a nearby business is instrumental in a police investigation that led to the arrest of Douglas John Fret, a 41 year old Livonia resident. The video was of the suspect’s vehicle. Also of significance was the victim’s excellent recall of the suspect’s features that enabled Dearborn Police Composite Artist, Cpl. Russ Faith to put together a composite sketch of the suspect which led to his arrest.

On July 25, 2011 at approximately 6:45pm, Fret walked into the Fantastic Sam’s located at 24517 Ford Road, and passed the receptionist a note instructing her to give him the money from the register. Fret then placed a gun on the counter and asked if there was more money. Fret took the cash, gun and the note and fled to the alley south of the business where his vehicle was parked.

Fret was arraigned today on Armed Robbery and Larceny in a Building charges. Bond was set at $100,000.00 cash. A preliminary exam has been set for August 12, 2011 at 9:00 am in the 19th District Court.
