Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into a deputy involved shooting, which occurred this morning in the 1000 block of West Washington Boulevard, in the city of Los Angeles.

Detectives have learned that members of several law enforcement agencies working together in a joint commercial burglary task force were surveilling a location. The suspect arrived at the location and engaged deputies and a police officer in a physical confrontation. The suspect grabbed the officer's gun and a deputy involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was wounded and transported to a local hospital where his condition is unknown.

At least one deputy sustained moderate injuries and was transported and admitted to a local hospital for treatment. He was not hit by gunfire.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the 1000 block of West Washington Boulevard, City of Los Angeles, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting.

No deputies were wounded.

One suspect was wounded.

Whenever an Officer-Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies, and it results in a wounding, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney, as well as investigations by Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau. Attorneys with the Los Angeles Office of Independent Review also respond to the scene, and have full access to the facts known to the Sheriff's Department throughout every phase of these investigations. Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.
