EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT THURSDAY WITH TODAY POSSIBLY BEING THE WARMEST YET

THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TODAY...

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY CONTINUES OVER WISCONSIN TODAY. A WEAK COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE STATE TONIGHT PROVIDING SOME RELIEF ON THURSDAY BY USHERING IN A BIT LESS HUMID AIR.

THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED TO PEAK THIS AFTERNOON AS HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE 90S TO AROUND 100 AND HEAT INDICES WILL PEAK BETWEEN 105 TO 110. SOMEWHAT COOLER AND LESS HUMID AIR WILL WORK INTO THE REGION LATE TONIGHT WITH AFTERNOON HEAT INDICES THURSDAY COOLING INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S.

* THE PROLONGED HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR THOSE WHO ARE WORKING OR PLAYING OUTDOORS.

THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING IN THEIR RESIDENCES WILL ALSO BE AT RISK. ELDERLY PEOPLE OR THOSE WITH RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID THE EFFECTS OF THE HEAT.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS
SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE.

DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
