Benicia Police Arrest 3 Suspects in the Tuesday Bank Robbery of US Bank on Southampton Road

On Tuesday, June 28th, at 1:40 pm, the Benicia Police Department received a call from the US Bank on Southampton Road reporting that an armed bank robbery had just taken place. The suspects were described as two male subjects wearing masks and armed with handguns and had robbed the bank of an undetermined amount of cash.

An alert witness provided a vehicle description and license plate of a vehicle the suspects left in. This vehicle was determined to be stolen from the city of El Sobrante. Subsequent leads and information led officers from the Benicia Police Department, Vallejo Police Department, Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, and the San Pablo Police Department to an Alan Ct. apartment building complex in San Pablo.

It was determined that the suspects had left the stolen vehicle in a Benicia neighborhood and got into another vehicle to flee the city. That vehicle was spotted by officers on Alan Court in San Pablo as the suspects fled from the car into and around the apartment complex. One suspect was taken into custody almost immediately. A search of the area with canine teams from both San Pablo and Vallejo PD's located the other two suspects in the area.

"As with many violent crimes in our community, it appears as though armed criminals from other cities have targeted a Benicia business to victimize," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "Once again, we had an alert citizen take notice of the getaway vehicle and provide valuable information. After that, our law enforcement partners from three other jurisdictions became involved and actually located the three suspects in San Pablo. Thankfully, no one was hurt. We are very appreciative of the efforts of the Vallejo Police Department, Contra Costa Sheriff's Office, and San Pablo Police Department as without their involvement an immediate arrest would not have been made."

Arrested were:

Rork PARKER, 24 years old, Richmond resident

Terrell FRANKLIN, 24 years old, Richmond resident

Travis OVERTON, 29 years old, Richmond resident

All three were booked into the Solano County Jail in Fairfield Tuesday night on armed robbery and conspiracy charges. None of the suspects are on probation or parole.

After the arrests, Benicia detectives served a search warrant on an Alan Court apartment in San Pablo where the suspects had fled to. In addition, detectives searched both the stolen vehicle used to flee from the bank and the vehicle the suspects eventually switched to that they had parked in a Benicia neighborhood near the bank. Evidence from those searches are being examined to determine the suspects involvement. At this time, specific items taken in the searches cannot be disclosed.

Benicia Police detectives are working with the FBI to try and determine if these suspects have committed similar crimes in other jurisdictions. As of this time, booking photos of the three are unavailable but will be sent out when we receive them.
