UPDATE (Log 133) Press Release
The body of a missing Santa Clarita man has been located in Las Vegas. Hikers discovered the body of Dusan Klein on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada. Using dental records, Klein was positively identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office. The cause of death has been ruled a suicide.
The missing dog has not been located. There is no further information available at this time.

(Press Release Update) Abandoned Vehicle Found in Nevada Determined to Be Missing Santa Clarita Couple's Jeep

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the death of a woman, Renata Klein, whose body was located June 15, 2011, in the Angeles National Forest.

Detectives have learned that, on the morning of Sunday, June 26, 2011, a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle parked behind an abandoned building in the 2700 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, North Las Vegas, Nevada. North Las Vegas Police Department personnel responded to the area and discovered the vehicle was the Kleins' missing Jeep. North Las Vegas Police notified the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau and detective personnel responded.

Homicide Bureau detectives confirmed the Jeep was the Kleins' vehicle, impounded it as evidence in the investigation, and arranged for it to be towed back to Los Angeles County.

Renata's husband, Dusan Klein, and the family dog, Cindy, are still missing. Homicide Detectives Seek the Public’s Assistance in Locating Dusan Klein and His Vehicle

Who: Sheriff Lee Baca, Homicide Bureau Lieutenant John Corina and Homicide Bureau Detectives Martindale and Rodriguez, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; and the son of Dusan Klein.

What: Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives will hold a press conference seeking the public’s assistance in locating Dusan
Klein and his vehicle. Dusan and Renata Klein, a married couple from Santa Clarita, along with their cocker spaniel dog “Cindy,” went missing on Saturday, June 11, 2011. The body of Mrs. Klein was discovered in the Angeles National Forest on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. An autopsy indicated that she was murdered.

NARRATIVE: On Wednesday, June 15th, Sheriff's Homicide investigators responded to Mile Marker 8.95 of Upper Big Tujunga Road, Angeles National Forest, regarding a Death Investigation of a female White adult who was found by local Public Works employees. Today, the body was positively identified as missing person Renata Klein of Santa Clarita. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Her husband, Dusan Klein MW/59, their 1999 Jeep Cherokee (Gold, California License Plate 4FLN519, with a sticker on the window with the words "American Travel"), and their black and white Cocker Spaniel named Cindy, are still missing. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two missing persons.

The missing persons, Dusan and Renata Klein, are married and live on Wildwind Road in Santa Clarita. They last spoke to friends at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th, 2011. They left their home in the vehicle listed with their ten year old black and white Cocker Spaniel dog named Cindy.


Dusan Klein Male/White, 59 years old, 6'02", 190 lbs., brown hair, brown eyes.

Renata Klein Female/White, 59 years old, 5'06", 120 lbs., blonde hair, blue eyes.

Vehicle : 1999 Jeep Cherokee, gold, California License #4FLN519, sticker on rear window with words “American Travel.”
