Theft from dresser reported.

On Monday, 05/02/2011 at 5:50 am Victim reported that she returned home to 919 State Street at 5:45 am and found that someone had taken cash which was in her dresser in her bedroom.

Burglary Reported.

On Sunday, 05/01/2011 at 11:39 pm, police were dispatched to 157 Gordon Street on a reported burglary. Victim stated that she was sleeping in her room when she heard a noise in her son's room. Someone then opened her door and when she looked up she saw the suspect standing by her bedroom door, suspect then closed the bedroom door and victim started screaming for her husband who was downstairs in the living room. Taken was a chrome IPOD that was on a dresser.

Suspect fled the area leaving behind a blue laundry bag with items inside that belonged to the victim

Burglary Reported.

On Sunday, 05/01/2011 2:59 pm police were dispatched to 281 Rector Street on a report of a burglary. Victim states upon returning home he observed that the door had been left partially open. He then entered the premises and found the entire apartment in total disarray. He reports nothing taken.

Robbery Reported.

On Sunday, 05/01/2011 at 4:46 am police were dispatched to the Emergency Room of Raritan Bay Medical Center for a robbery that had occurred earlier in the night. Victim stated that he was waiting for a taxi at the intersection of Hall Avenue and Cortlandt Street when he was approached by four unknown males. One of them immediately grabbed him by the neck and took him to the ground. Another suspect began rifling through his front pants pockets. Victim was then struck over the head with a beer bottle, causing a laceration along the hairline above his left eye. The four men then quickly left the area, at which time family members heard him yelling, and came out to see what had happened. He was transported to the Hospital. The laceration required sutures and he was released. One hundred dollars in cash was taken.

Suspect arrested for Possession of Marijuana



On Sunday, 05/01/2011 at 2:25 am police were dispatched to Johnstone Street and Jeffries Street on a report of a fight. When police arrived they observed 30-40 people in the area. Police stopped a vehicle that almost hit a group of pedestrians on Jeffries Street the driver Andy Rojas, age 18, was arrested for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. Bail was set by the Honorable Judge Maria De Valle-Koch in the amount of $25,000.00 with no 10%.

Theft of Services

On Friday, 04/30/2011 police were dispatched to the Raceway Gas Station on Convery Blvd on a theft report. The suspect vehicle requested gas for a White 2003 Chevy TBZ. Same left the station without paying for $36.00 of the gas. Suspect is described as a Black Female mid 30s, and heavy set.

Woman Arrested for Shoplifting

On Friday, 04/30/2011 police arrested Britney AJA Thomas of 148 Inslee Place, Elizabeth NJ, for shoplifting at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Smith Street. While at Police Headquarters it was discovered that the defendant had the following Outstanding Warrants: Warrant out of Carteret Municipal Court for the amount of $1,500.00, Warrant out of Borough of Roselle for the amount of $1,100.00, Warrant out of Highland Park for the amount of $407.00 and Warrant out of Newark Municipal Court for the amount of $250.00. Total amount $3,257.00

Burglary

On Friday, 04/30/2011 at 4:35 pm police were dispatched to 372 Sutton Street on a report of a burglary that occurred. Victims reported that they left their residence at 11:30 am and returned at 4:30 pm. The front door to the home was open. The victims entered each of their apartments to find them both ransacked. Several pieces of jewelry and a social security card which were located on her dresser in her bedroom were taken. Pry marks were found on front door.

Robbery

On Friday, 04/30/2011 at 3:31 pm police were dispatched to 190 Madison Avenue on the report of a robbery. Victim and a witness both stated they were walking east on Gordon Street approaching Madison Avenue when a tall black male, wearing earphones who was walking west on Gordon Street, and about to pass them, reached for a gold necklace around the victims neck. Once the witness saw the suspect grab the item she began to scream for help. The suspect fled on foot West on Gordon Street and North on First Street.

Suspect: Tall black male, bald head, about 511 to 6ft. tall, thin build, wearing a black and white baseball cap turned to the side. Blue jeans, black shirt with yellow writing.

Robbery

On Friday, 04/30/2011 at 1:32 pm police were dispatched to 314 Smith Street on a report of as robbery. Victim stated that she was walking west on Smith Street with witness and her three young children. When a suspect described as a black male walking east on Smith Street reached out and grabbed her gold necklace with medallions that she had around her neck. The suspect fled East on Smith Street and then North on Prospect Street. Then the suspect fled East onto Fayette Street and North on Oak Street.

Robbery

On Friday, 04/30/2011 at 12:18 am police were dispatched to 181 New Brunswick Avenue on a report that two white Hispanic males approached the victim and struck him several times with a closed fist in the face. The victim fell to the ground and the males took his wallet from his pants pocket. The witness stated that the suspects fled on foot West on Fayette Street and North on Maple Street, one male was wearing a white t-shirt, no hair, and was approximately 15-18 yrs old, The second suspect was wearing a black t-shirt and was approximately 15-18 yrs old.
