On April 27, 2011, James Lester Gaines Jr, D.O.B. 5-13-1990, was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for the murder of Jesse Guzman on April 12, 2011.

Detectives believe Guzman was the victim of a street robbery perpetrated by Gaines. Guzman was hit, causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground, ultimately causing his death.

Gaines was taken into custody about 11:00 a.m. when a vehicle he was in was pulled over in the area of Maze Blvd. and Martin Luther King Drive. He was booked later that evening and is being held without bail.

This case is under investigation and no further details are available for release at this time.
