Police Blotter

On Thursday, 21 April 2011 at 1628hrs the Perth Amboy Police Department received a call that a sail boat had turned over into the Arthur Kill waters. The boat belonged to the Perth Amboy High School Sailing Team and contained within were one student and his instructor. While in the water another sail boat with two students tried to make their way toward the individuals in the water, their boat turned over also. Immediately responding was the Perth Amboy Police Marine Service Bureau which was Captained by Officer Joseph Sulikowski. Officer Sulikowski successfully pulled in a student and the instructor to the police boat. One student was able to swim ashore while the other was able to turn his boat upright and return to the safety of the sailing vessel. This investigation is on-going.

Burglary: 439 Summit Ave.
On Tuesday, 04/19/2011 at approx. 5:30 pm police were detailed to 439 Summit Ave on a report of a burglary. Victim reports that suspect entered after she step out at 11:30 am. She returned at 1 pm finding the bedrooms ransacked and an open rear window a small lock box which was in a closet in the spare bedroom, which is padlocked, was found pried open.

Theft of Gas
On Tuesday, 04/19/2011 at 7:15 pm, police were dispatched to 851 Convery Blvd. (Quick Chek) on a theft report.

It was reported that a Hispanic male driving a red minivan pulled up to pump and requested $40.00 of regular leaded fuel. The attendant placed the pump nozzle in the gas tank opening and walked away to attend other customers. He then returned to the pump and noticed that suspect left without paying. The red minivan was last seen traveling west bound on Pfeiffer Blvd.

The suspect was described as a white Hispanic male in his 40's years of age, black hair and wearing a blue denim jacket. No other information was given.

Burglary: 137 Armstrong Lane

On Tuesday, 04/19/2011 at 5:15 pm police were dispatched to 137 Armstrong Lane on a report of a burglary. Victim reported that she left her residence at 7:00 am and upon her return at 5:15 pm she noticed her front door was open and a laptop computer located on a desk in her bedroom was missing, also an I-pod was taken. Victim noticed a black male between 17-20 yrs old standing in her parking spot who walked away west through the complex. She described him as 17-20 yrs old, 6’02” tall, thin build, black male wearing light blue jeans and a tan jacket.

Theft
On Tuesday, 04/19/2011 at 7:50 am police were detailed to 575 Sayre Ave, Chris Anderson Roofing, on a report of a theft.
It was reported that on 04/16/2011 at 5:50 pm and on 04/17/2011 at 1510 pm a surveillance camera recorded a white male wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded jacket enter the property, he jumped the fence and took several roofing materials.

Upon inventory of their supplies they found 2 cans of Tremco Burmaster Adhesive valued at $100.00 each had been taken, and 15 rolls of Sika Sarnafil Roofing valued at $150.00 each had been taken. A total of $2,450.00 in materials was taken.
