Incident Location : 900 Block Santa Clara (general location-100 block)

Cause : Unattended cooking fire

Injuries : (general) Smoke inhalation

Number of Personnel : 29

Fire Equipment : 5 Engines, 2 Trucks, 4 Command, 1 Ambulance

Agencies Involved : Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, AMR Ambulance, Ventura Police Department

Damage Estimate : $10,000 Structural, $5,000 Contents

Fire Protection Systems Present : Smoke detector functioned properly

Narrative : Fire units were dispatched to a fire in a multi-story, multi-unit apartment complex. First arriving units utilized an aggressive interior attack to quickly contain the fire to the kitchen area of the involved unit. No damage to adjacent units was noted. Investigation showed that the fire was caused by unattended cooking. One resident was assessed and treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. One adult male was displaced due to the involved unit being tagged for limited occupancy. He was assisted by the American Red Cross. Due to HIPAA we are prevented from disclosing an individual’s protected health information (PHI). We may not release information regarding patient’s names, DOB, address, SS# or medical status.
