IMPORTANT!! PCPD Moving from Nixle Service to City run system. Please read and take action ASAP.
Dear Citizens,
The Peachtree City Police Department joined Nixle in November 2009 in order to ensure that we had the capability to provide our citizens with pertinent information and emergency notifications. At the time, we were assured that Nixle was going to remain a free service to government agencies. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and on April 29th, 2011, Nixle will begin charging agencies for their service.
While Nixle is an excellent service, we cannot justify the several thousands that it would cost each year to use their service - especially considering that our web management program provides a very similar feature at no-cost to the citizens, the department, or the City of Peachtree City.
Please visit http://www.peachtree-city.org/CivicAlerts.aspx to subscribe to our new alert system. Once on this page, you will see a box on the right entitled “Tools”. Locate the Notify Me link (there is an envelope next to it), and click on it. At the top of the next page, you will be directed to enter the email address you would like to subscribe. After clicking the “Sign In” button, you will be given the option of entering a cell phone number where you would like SMS Text Messages to be sent. You do not have to subscribe to the text messages. You will then choose what groups you would like to subscribe to. The top option is the Police Notify Me option, and below are all of the other City Department’s that you can subscribe to. Once you have subscribed to the Police Notify Me option, you will begin to receive emails from the Peachtree City Police Department with an email address of listserv@civicplus.com. Please make sure you add this to your address book to eliminate the chance of your spam filter blocking the emails.
As always, we will never share your information with 3rd parties and we will never send you messages that are not related to City information, police/criminal activity, or actual emergencies in progress.
I apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause and I hope that all of our current subscribers will make the switch so that we can continue to provide you with important information about your community. We will continue posting to Nixle and our website until the cut-off date of April 29, 2011. We will still continue to post to Twitter and our Facebook Group after this move is made.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about this message or this new method.
Respectfully,
Captain Rosanna Dove
