Person of Interest From Greenville County Located In Laurens County
Around 8 p.m. on April 11th the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle in the parking lot of the Hot Spot Store located on 221 South in Laurens. The vehicle, a 2002 silver Volkswagen Jetta, was being sought by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was believed to have been taken from a crime scene in Greer and was possibly being driven by a Walker Manning Hughes. LCSO was alerted that Hughes, who was described as person of interest, may have connections near or around the Indian Mound Road area of Laurens County.
As the LCSO deputy approached the vehicle at the Hot Spot, he made contact with Walker Manning Hughes who told the officer he had run out of gas. Further investigation by the LCSO led to 39 year old Walker Manning Hughes being charged in Laurens County with Receiving Stolen Goods for possession of the Volkswagen Jetta. Hughes was transported to the Laurens County Detention Center where he is awaiting arraignment. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office was also contacted at the time of this incident.
