OK Internet Predator Arrested in Texas

Thursday, March 31, 2011, Christopher J. Lafever (d.o.b. 10/12/86), of Mustang, was arrested in Arlington, Texas, on a Coal County, Oklahoma, warrant for Lewd or Indecent Proposals to a Child Under 16, 4 counts of Soliciting Sexual Conduct or Communication with a Minor by Use of Technology, and Violation of Oklahoma Computer Crimes Acts. Bond in Coal County was set at $500,000. On February 14, 2011, members of the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted Coal County Sheriff’s Deputies in the case. Sheriff’s Deputies alleged Lafever contacted a minor male child on Facebook and, through text messaging, requested the child to send nude images of himself in exchange for autographed motocross gear. During the investigation, investigators learned in addition to the child in Coal County there were three additional instances where Lafever solicited nude images from children. Investigators determined Lafever would be at the Arlington, Texas, Motor Speedway on March 31, 2011. Oklahoma Task Force members contacted Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force members in Collin County, Texas. Texas Task Force members conducted an undercover investigation into Lafever, at which time Lafever immediately solicited nude photographs from a child. Lafever agreed to meet the child at a specified location at the Motor Speedway, but instead Lafever was met by Texas Task Force members and Arlington Police Department officers. Lafever was arrested and booked into the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth. Lafever is also being held for a Texas charge of Soliciting Sexual Contact or Communication with a Minor and bond was set at $100,000. Additional charges are pending a forensic examination of Lafever’s computer equipment. Lafever was previously charged on February 4, 2011, in Canadian County, Oklahoma, for one count of Unlawful Communication with a Minor by Use of Technology. This case was investigated by the Mustang Police in cooperation with the Oklahoma Task Force and a lead from the National Center for Missing and exploited Children Cybertip Program. Lafever was out on bond during the time he committed the additional crimes of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor.
