On March 30, 2011 at approximately 12:30 am a burglary occurred at the Phillips 66 located at 10400 N. Michigan Rd. The suspect used a large chunk of concrete to break the front window. After entering the store he began stealing cartons of cigarettes. Carmel Police Officers were in the area due to similar burglaries that had occurred at the same location. They observed the suspect break the window and enter the store. Officers arrested the suspect without incident.
Another suspect was waiting in the parking lot in a silver Hyundai. Officers approached this suspect and he began to flee the area. After a short chase the suspect stopped the vehicle and gave up.
Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and believe the suspects are responsible for three other burglaries at the Phillips 66.
Suspect #1- Sam Cole, 41 year old black male from Indianapolis
Charges- 3 counts of theft, 3 counts of burglary, and habitual offender
Suspect #2- Carroll Walton, 53 year old black male from Indianapolis (Driver)
Charges- 2 counts of theft, 2 counts of burglary, reckless driving, resisting law enforcement, habitual offender and driving while suspended with a prior conviction
