A Modesto Police officer was arrested late last night on several felony charges as a result of an initial internal administrative investigation.

Anthony Trock, a 4-year veteran with the Modesto Police Department was arrested by Modesto Police detectives after the department’s Internal Affairs Unit received a citizen complaint alleging misconduct against the officer. The Internal Affairs investigation quickly revealed possible criminal violations, which led to a criminal investigation by Modesto Police criminal investigators.

Through the criminal investigation, detectives discovered on several occasions Trock seized illegal drugs from individuals he contacted while in the performance of his law enforcement duties and failed to book the evidence. On at least one occasion he furnished the seized drugs, that being marijuana, to an adult individual.

Trock was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, furnishing illegal drugs, and embezzlement. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail and has been stripped of his law enforcement powers and placed on administrative leave.

“I am deeply disappointed in the conduct of Anthony Trock. Anytime a police officer violates the public’s trust, it brings disgrace to the organization and law enforcement profession,” said Modesto Police Chief Michael Harden. “Police officers are not above the law and we will vigorously investigate those who break the law and violate the public’s trust.”

Chief Harden went on to say, “The Modesto Police Department is full of honest and hardworking men and women dedicated to serving the public and keeping the community safe. Although Trock’s actions are very disturbing, his conduct does not reflect the overall commitment and values of the Modesto Police Department, or the law enforcement professional as a whole.”
