Incident Location: 1600 blk of Callens Rd, City of Ventura

Cause: Under investigation

Injuries: 1 adult male smoke inhalation victim

Number of Personnel: 33

Fire Equipment: 6 Engine companies, 2 Truck companies, 3 Battalion Chiefs,

1 Assistant Chief, 1 Fire Marshal, 2 Paramedic Ambulances

Agencies Involved: Ventura City FD, Ventura County FD, Oxnard FD, Santa Paula FD, Ventura PD

Damage Estimate: $100,000 – structural, $150,000 - contents

Fire Protection Systems Present : Smoke detector – activated and alerted sleeping occupant

Narrative: Ventura City Fire units responded to a structure fire in a commercial multi- use building on Callens Rd. in the City of Ventura. First arriving units found a significant fire in an approximately 2000 square foot unit being used for automotive repair. The fire was already growing through the roof and a second alarm was requested for assistance bringing units from Oxnard, Ventura County and Santa Paula Fire departments. Fire fighters made a quick and aggressive attack on the fire and were able to limit the damage to the unit where the fire originated and protect five adjacent businesses. Paramedics treated a 33-year-old male at scene for smoke inhalation injuries and transported the victim to Ventura County Medical Center for further evaluation. The cause is currently under investigation and damage has been estimated at $250,000.
