Monday, 28 March 2011 0815hrs a Bomb Threat was phoned into the Police Department. Unknown caller stated there was a bomb at the Shull School in Perth Amboy. While the Police Officers responded Detective Rafaelito Cruz and Detective Sandra Rivera started an investigation. The investigation lead to the arrest of a (14) fourteen year old student located inside the School within the hour. The child was taken to the Principals Office where he was taken into police custody. He has been charged with causing False Public Alarm, a third degree crime.
Monday, 28 March 2011 approx. 1220hrs the Perth Amboy Police Department assisted the Sayreville Police Department with a male individual who jumped off the Parkway Bridge. Police Officer Jeff Kuchie of the Patrol Bureau responded with Sergeant Ben Salerno and Patrol Officer Joe Sulikowski of the Marine Service Bureau in Marine 2 and retrieved the male from the Arthur Kill waters. The male was then transported to the Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy Division, he had survived the fall.
Monday, 28 March 2011 the Perth Amboy Police responded to an Emotionally Disturbed Person at the address of 204 Smith Street at 1251hrs. The area was closed off to vehicle as well as pedestrian traffic until the issue could be resolved. The adult male individual communicated to Officers on scene that he was going to hurt himself and anyone else who attempted to get to him, he threw numerous objects out of his window while in his emotional state. Officers were finally able to calm the individual down after (40) forty minutes utilizing their verbal skills and safely extracted the male from his apartment and transported him to the Perth Amboy Medical Center Crisis Unit for evaluation.
