Detectives Continue to Look for Clues in Late Night Double Shooting

Modesto Police homicide detectives are investigating a late night shooting in Northwest Modesto that left two people shot and police looking for help in identifying the shooter.
On Sunday March 27th, at about 8:30 p.m., Modesto Police officers were called to a shooting that had occurred in Northwest Modesto. A caller reported his friend was shot and they were in the Grace Davis High School parking lot, located at the corner of Tully Road and West Rumble Avenue.
When officers arrived to that location, they found a vehicle parked in the empty lot, which was occupied by three male adults. Two of the males had sustained gunshot wounds, while the third person was not injured. The two victims were transported to nearby hospitals. One victim remains in critical condition, while the other was treated and has since been released from the hospital.
Investigators have determined the initial shooting occurred in the 2600 block of Chester Drive and the victims were able to flee the scene in their vehicle, after the shooting, and drove to the nearby high school parking lot.
Investigators are continuing to follow-up on leads and information obtained in the initial investigation. Police have yet to identify a motive, however, have not ruled out the possibility that gangs or drugs may have been a factor.
