Significant Multi-3 Burglary Arrest made in Westchester

Between 3/09/11 and 3/10/11 Open Charter Magnet School located in Westchester was burglarized. During the burglary unknown suspects gained entry into the school by unknown means and managed to take a total of nine IMac computers and other electronic devices.

The suspects were unaware that the computers were equipped with security software. Once the computer was turned on and connected to the internet it monitored and recorded their location via GPS. It additionally captures photographs of the user.

On 3/12/11 Pacific Divisions- Crime Intelligence Team discovered one of the stolen computers was being used. The security software was able to provide a physical IP address, GPS coordinates and it even captured a photograph of the user.

Utilizing department resources, police personnel discovered the location of the computer. They immediately responded to the area, which was in Westchester, and located the suspect. The same person in the photograph was one of the suspects that were arrested. One of the stolen computers was recovered.

Pacific Detective and C.I.T personnel continued and furthered their investigation which led to the arrest of two more suspects and the total recovery of four computers.
