Two Laurens county men charged with chop shop violations after theft investigation.
Clyde Ledbetter, 55 of Clinton, and Travis Reo Overstreet, 30 of Gray Court, were charged with operating a chop shop after a burglary and theft investigation in the Clinton area of the county. After a week long investigation conducted by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office the two men were arrested for Unlawful Operation of a Chop Shop, Conspiracy to Operate a Chop Shop, Second Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Petit Larceny. A third man, Forrest Craig Beck, is being sought in connection with this investigation also.
The men took away a vehicle and other items from a residence in the Clinton area of the county, as well as burglarizing the home located there. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office utilized electronic surveillance equipment to identify the suspects involved in the theft when they made an attempt to return to the property.
