Advisory

**Flood Watch** in effect for **Low lying parts of Westfall Township** area thru **March 13, 2011**.

National Weather Service has issued a **Flood Watch** for **Low lying areas of Westfall Township** until **Sunday, March 10, 2011**.

**(Insert all relevant weather information (can include Doppler radar reports, current weather conditions, field observations or affected traffic conditions))**.

As of 08:30 – 3/10/2011 – the National Weather Service in Binghamton NY – based on the current forecast issued by the Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center – are indicating that there is a possibility of the Delaware River reaching a height 14.2′ + – - based on the Matamoras Gauge. At this height, there are no direct impacts to the Borough of Matamoras.

Forecasting water levels has proven to be a challenging task during past events. We have been in direct contact with the National Weather Service Hydrologist on duty and he states that at the present time – he feels there is no reason to take any precautionary measures – other than continuously monitoring the weather conditions.

As a guide, the link below will take you to the current Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center – Matamoras Gauge forecast:

http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=bgm&gage=mtmp1&view=1,1,1,1,1,1

It is obvious from this graph that the weather service anticipates the river approaching 14.2 feet – however we have absolutely no way to know what level the river may reach – or if will even meet the present forecast height of 14.2′.

These long-range forecasts or outlooks allow you to see what computer simulations can tell us about extended periods. Remember that this information is indicative, that is, it only gives you probabilities or chances of possible scenarios. It should be expected that conditions can and will change over such extended periods. These forecasts are updated periodically and should be consulted on a regular basis.

We will continue to monitor the situation and continue to post updates on this page as necessary.
