Significant Arrest made in Westchester, of Burglary from Motor Vehicle suspects
Westchester community has been plagued with a series of BTFVs (Burglary Theft from Vehicle). YTD there has been approximately thirty reported incidents. It has been the focus and goal of the LAPD-Pacific Division to combat this problem.
On 3/09/11 at 1:00 AM, Patrol units responded to a radio call of BTFV suspects in the area of 83rd Street and Westlawn Ave. Witnesses described the suspects as driving a Green Honda and breaking into cars.
Armed with this information, LAPD-Air Support (Air-8) responded to the area and observed a compact Green Honda travelling at a low rate of speed, stopping as they passed several cars.
Officers responded to the area where two male suspects were detained for a BTFV investigation.
Officers recovered large amounts of tools, cell phones, GPS units and misc electronics from the suspects’ vehicle.
Investigators have linked several recent auto crimes to this arrest.
