Lubbock Police responded to a shots fired call at 11:07 p.m. last night, March 7th, in the 1500 block of 26th. Three subjects were in the driveway of a residence and were involved in a verbal altercation. The altercation escalated and one man pulled out a handgun and shot the other two men. The shooter fled the scene but later turned himself in to police.
Taris Knight, 31, and James Guess, 56, suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to UMC where Knight was pronounced deceased. Guess is currently listed in critical condition.
Cruz Aldaco, 58, was arrested after turning himself in and is charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault.
LPD detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
