Some Angeles Forest roads to reopen (C.A.R.E.)

The Los Angeles County Public Works Department has announced the reopening of:

Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Big Tujunga Dam to Angeles Forest Highway,

Angeles Forest Highway from Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway (SR-2), and

Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Crest Highway (SR-2) to Angeles Forest Highway

These roads were reopened as of 4:00 p.m. today, Sunday, February 27, 2011.

The Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road REMAINS CLOSED. County Public Works crews are continuing to work on this section of the highway to make it safe for travel.

Residents can visit the CARE website at www.dpwcare.org for the latest information on the closed section of Angeles Forest Highway and for further updates on road conditions, or sign up through Public Works’ eNotify system to receive instant notifications.

County Public Works will continue to monitor the roads and weather forecasts and issue additional advisories as necessary. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving area roads.

While the roads have been re-opened, the Angeles National Forest within the Station Fire area remains closed to the public. Parking along forest roads in this area is not permitted and parked vehicles will be subject to citation and towing.


Residents can also visit the CARE website at www.dpwcare.org for further updates on road conditions or sign up through Public Works’ eNotify system to receive instant notifications.

Residents, business owners and persons with access or functional needs may also call 2-1-1 for LA County information and referral services regarding post disaster resources that are available to those affected by the floods and debris and mud flow.
