In two separate cases Wednesday deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station arrested suspected drug dealers.

1. The first operation occurred early Wednesday morning when deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's / City of Santa Clarita Community Interaction Team (CIT) joined the city's dedicated County of Los Angeles Probation Officer to conducted a probation compliance check of a drug probationer at a residence in the 23000 block of Santa Clarita Road, Saugus.

The team converged on the location before 7:00 a.m. and detained Gilbert Pedraza, MH/28, who was living in the garage. During the subsequent probation search, deputies recovered nearly 6 pounds of marijuana, 300 grams of hashish, and nearly 50 hydrocodone pills. All apparently possessed for sales and destined for Santa Clarita streets. Deputies also recovered more than $1,000 in cash and several IPODS they believe may be stolen.

Pedraza, who was already on probation for cultivating marijuana, was arrested. He was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony charges of possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of concentrated cannabis, and reasonable cause receiving stolen property. He is being held without bail for potentially violating his probation. -ref 02334

2. The second case occurred just hours later when deputies assigned to the Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) working directly with Santa Clarita patrol deputies effected a traffic stop of two vehicles in the 25100 block of The Old Road, Stevenson Ranch, unincorporated Los Angeles County.

What they intercepted and dismantled was a substantial drug operation. Three suspects in the two different cars were arrested, apparently moments after making a drug deal behind a local business in the area. J-Team deputies recovered 11 pounds of packaged marijuana from the trunk of one of the vehicles. Deputies estimate the street value of the illegal drugs at more than $30,000. They also recovered an ounce of hashish and nearly $4,000 cash. Deputies seized one vehicle that was apparently used to transport the marijuana from Northern California to Santa Clarita.

The J-Team didn't stop! Late last night they followed up with the service of a search warrant at the residence of one of the suspects in the 18700 block of Vista Del Canon, Newhall. At the location they recovered additional cash, marijuana, and Psilocybin mushrooms.

All three suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Suspects Michael Miller, MW/27, and Ryan Check, MW/26, of Santa Rosa face potential felony charges of transportation of marijuana, and possession of marijuana for sale. They each later posted $30,000 bond and were released pending future court proceedings.

The third suspect, Brett Brodie, MW/26, of Newhall faces felony charges of possession of concentrated cannabis. He posted $10,000 bond and later was released pending future court proceedings.
