*****PRESS RELEASE....Burglary supect in custody*****

On 02-10-11, at approximately 10:02 pm, members of the Hartford Police Department’s Traffic Narcotics Team, specially trained drug interdiction officers, observed a vehicle parked in the 200 block of N. Main St. matching the description of a suspected drug dealer. The officers had received information that the operator of this vehicle was frequently armed and selling illicit drugs from that vehicle in the downtown Hartford area.
After parking their squads, the officers approached the vehicle on foot and found that it was unoccupied but did observe footprints in the snow extending from the vehicle to the entrance door of a nearby building. As they approached the building, they heard loud music coming from the business and could see lights on inside.
When the officers approached the building, a subject walked out the door. They recognized the 34-year-old Hartford man as a person of interest in the burglary spree that began in November of 2010 in the downtown area, who also had active warrants for his arrest.
When the officers ordered the subject to stop, he fled back inside the building, at which time the music stopped and all the lights were turned off. Ultimately, the officers gained access to the building and took the subject into custody without further incident. Several Milwaukee men, 22, 35, and 42 years of age, were also found hiding inside the building. After identifying and interviewing these subjects, they were released from the scene.
Investigation at that location led to Hartford officers seizing quantities of marijuana, cocaine, and various items of drug paraphernalia. Multiple items of stolen property that had been taken in the rash of downtown burglaries were also recovered from that location, including security surveillance equipment, a digital video recorder, and various items of retail merchandise, various electronics, and multiple firearms.
Follow-up investigation lead to the execution of a search warrant at a second location on E. Lincoln Ave. in the City of Hartford. That portion of the investigation resulted in the seizure of additional items of drug paraphernalia.
The subject was transported to the Washington County Jail on his outstanding warrants. Multiple charges of Burglary, Attempted Burglary, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Criminal Damage to Property, and multiple drug-related charges against the suspect are being referred to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
It should be noted that all suspects enjoy the presumption of innocence. The state must prove all charges at trial.
