The Davie Police Department is now participating in the Lojack SafetyNet Program.

What is Lojack SafetyNet?

Lojack SafetyNet is a service that helps caregivers provide an added layer of protection for loved ones with cognitive conditions such as autism and Alzheimer's from the potentially life threatening behavior of wandering. The service enables the Davie Police Department to more effectively find and rescue people at risk in the event they wander, eliminating traditional searches that often take countless man-hours. Leveraging proven technology and processes, the SafetyNet service aids in the safe return of a person who goes missing and provides peace of mind to caregivers.

How does it work?

- Once caregivers enroll their loved ones in the service, they receive a SafetyNet bracelet, which is worn by the person at risk typically on their wrist or ankle.
- The SafetyNet bracelet constantly emits a radio frequency signal, unlike cellular and GPS technology, it's signal doesn't rely on cellular networks and satellite signals.
- The caregiver provides information about the client which is entered into a secure database to assist in the event there is a need for a search and rescue call.
- Trained officers from the Davie Police Department are certified on the use of the electronic search and rescue equipment.
- These trained officers track the radio frequency signal being emitted from the personal locator unit on your loved one’s wrist or ankle in an attempt to locate them.
