Rash of Larcenies in Monroe Township.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is reporting a rash of larcenies in Monroe Township.

On November 29th, 2010 the Monroe Public Schools Bus Garage reported the first larceny. The bus garage is located in the 4900 block of Albain Rd., Monroe Township. At this time suspects stole a large amount of electrical extension cords, utilized for the school buses during the winter.

The Sheriff's Office responded, took the original report and began the investigation. During the next three(3) months, four(4) additional thefts occurred, at the bus garage, with the same method of operation and electrical cords stolen.

The Sheriff's Detective Bureau continued to work with Monroe Public Schools and conducted surveillance throughout the area. A suspect was developed through these efforts.

On February 8th, 2011 at approximately 1:20 AM, Monroe County Detectives, along with Deputy Sheriff's from the CARS Division took a Monroe Township man, 31, into custody at his residence. The Monroe Township man was being investigated by detectives for the thefts.

The male suspect, along with two females 21 and 25, both from Monroe, were taken to the Monroe County Detective Bureau for interviews. During interviews, the male suspect confessed to each of the larcenies from the Monroe Public Schools Bus Garage.

The two females were released after interviews and the male suspect was lodged on five(5) counts of larceny, pending court arraignment.

In addition, investigators located illegal narcotics while taking the three subjects into custody and charges are being sought, pending laboratory analysis.
