The Gloucester Township Police will have increased high visibility and zero tolerance enforcement DWI patrols over the weekend and on Super Bowl Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers meet the Green Bay Packers. We ask that before consuming alcohol, designate a sober driver and give that person the keys to the vehicle. It is important to make these arrangements in advance, not during the game or after when it may be too late. If you feel you are impaired then call a taxi, take public transportation or call a sober friend or family member for a safe ride home.
If you are hosting a party make sure your guests designate their sober drivers or help arrange ride sharing. Serve plenty of food and offer non-alcoholic drinks. Only serve alcohol to guests who are at least 21 years of age. Determine ahead of time when you will stop serving alcohol and begin serving coffee and desserts such as at the third quarter of the game. Take steps to prevent anyone from driving while impaired and consider having guests spend the night if a way home is not available. Lastly, if you suspect someone is driving while intoxicated please immediately report it to the police. Having a responsible plan of prevention for any celebration can help ensure that everyone gets home safely.
