BURGLARY/THEFT ARRESTS

Two individuals have been arrested and charged with burglary related offenses, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Don Matthew Jones, 18, of Gadsden, has been arrested and charged with six counts of third degree burglary, seven counts of second degree theft of property and two counts of first degree theft of property, all are felonies,” states Investigator Shane Hartley.
Investigator Hartley continues, “Justin Allan Ford, 18, of Gadsden, has been arrested and charged with nine counts of third degree burglary, nine counts of second degree theft of property and two counts of first degree theft of property, all are felonies”.
Jones and Ford were arrested on Thursday, January 27, 2011, after deputies responded to a reported burglary on Gallant Road. A vehicle description was given and the suspects were located within one hour. The vehicle was stopped by Attalla Police Department’s Chief Investigator, Dennis Walker.
Items stolen from the residence on Gallant Road were found inside the vehicle. Jones and Ford were arrested and brought to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office for questioning by Investigator Hartley.
As a result of a six day investigation, these two individuals have been linked to twelve burglaries over the past three weeks. The incidents have occurred in Altoona, Attalla, Gallant and Gadsden.
Jones and Ford allegedly kicked open the door to gain entrance at the residences where they stole various items. No one was at the residences during the burglaries.
Some of the property taken includes: money, jewelry, electronics, firearms and tools. Several pieces of stolen property have been recovered and are being returned to the rightful owner.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending. Investigators are continuing to look for other individuals who were involved in these crimes.
Jones and Ford are currently in the Etowah County Detention Center on $42,000 and $55,000 bond, respectively.
