Press Release...9 burglaries to the downtown area.

As of February 1, 2011, nine burglaries and/or attempted entries to businesses in the Hartford downtown have been reported to the Hartford Police Department. A variety of items have been taken in these incidents including U.S. Currency and several firearms.

Our investigation to this point has lead us to suspect that these recent incidents may have been committed by the same individual(s) responsible for as many as fourteen other similar offenses that also occurred in the downtown area since November of 2010.

The time of these offenses has varied from early afternoon to overnight hours. All of the incidents have occurred while the establishments have been closed for business and unoccupied. We have reason to believe that the suspect(s) may live or work in or near the downtown Hartford area or frequent the downtown area as a pedestrian.

Citizens and business owners are encouraged to secure their establishments when they are not occupied. Anyone observing suspicious conduct around the main entrances or the rear alley entrances of downtown establishments is encouraged to notify the police department immediately at 262-673-2600.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents who wishes to remain anonymous may do so by calling the Washington County Law Enforcement Tip Program at 800-232-0594. Information leading to arrests can result in a cash reward for the person supplying the information.
