Narrative: Water rescue units were dispatched to a report of a person on a boogie board in distress off the beach at Marina Park in the City of Ventura. Upon arrival, rescue personnel were notified that there were a total of 5 victims in the water adjacent to a nearby rock jetty and had been caught in rip currents. Rescue swimmers from the Ventura City Fire Department, the Ventura Harbor Patrol and the California State Lifeguards were immediately deployed in the water for help. Rescue personnel were able to help two victims from the rocks and the other three were brought into the shore by the rescue swimmers. Paramedics at the scene treated the victims for exposure and minor lacerations. Two 17-year-old females and a 13-year-old female were transported to Ventura County Medical Center for further evaluation. A 17-year-old female and a 16-year-old male were treated and released to a responsible adult at the scene.
