SEXUAL ABUSE ARREST

One individual has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse related offenses, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Jerry Lavon Padgett, 63, of Boaz, has been arrested and charged with one count of first degree rape, two counts of first degree sodomy, one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and one count of sexual torture, all are felonies,” states Investigator Carla Carroll.
The incidents allegedly happened between July and October of 2010 at Padgett’s residence located in the Sardis Community, and at various other locations in Etowah County.
The victim lives in Marshall County, where the incident was reported by her teacher to Marshall County Department of Human Resources.
Padgett is currently in the Etowah County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bond.
Other agencies involved include: Marshall County Department of Human Resources and Boaz Police Department.
