SEXUAL ABUSE ARREST

One individual has been arrested and charged with a sexual abuse related offense, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Teranci Lane Sawyers, 26, of Gadsden, has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and one count of first degree sodomy, both are felonies,” states Investigator Carla Carroll.
The incident allegedly happened between 2001 and 2003. The incident was reported by the victim’s family.
Sawyers was recently charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 for an incident that happened on January 12, 2011. During the course of the previous investigation, Investigator Carroll discovered a separate incident that occurred with a different victim that led to today’s charges.
Sawyers is currently in the Etowah County Detention Center on $75,000 cash bond for the two charges mentioned above. His total bond is $125,000 cash bond.
