Criminal Activity Highlights for the week of 01/10/11 to 01/16/11

2030 hrs

Subject(s) entered a room at the Comfort Inn (5301 N.W. 36th Street) and removed a daily planner from a suitcase, which contained a US Passport. There was no sign of forced entry into the room; value $90.00.

0823 hrs

Subject(s) entered a vehicle parked at 5125 N.W. 36th Street (Holiday Inn Express) by prying open both front door locks and removed a video camera, cell phone and a laptop computer; value $2,700.00.

0859 hrs

A resident in the 200 block of Duval Drive observed a male driving a pickup truck thru the alleyway in the rear of the residence. As the resident walked into her backyard she saw the truck driving away with her wrought iron table in the bed of his truck. The resident yelled at the driver who then stopped and returned to her and placed the table back into the fenced in yard. The resident did not wish to pursue charges against the subject. The officer on the scene advised the subject of the City ordinance and told him he would be subject to arrest if he returned and removed items from the city alleyways.

1026 hrs

Unknown subject(s) gained entry into a vehicle parked at 3600 N.W. 42nd Avenue (Office Depot) by smashing the passenger side window, however nothing was removed; damage $200.00.

1214 hrs

Subject(s) entered a vehicle parked at 650 Curtiss Parkway (Miami Springs Golf and Country Club) by breaking the driver’s side door lock and removed a 45 caliber gun. Estimated loss and damage to vehicle is $550.00.

1340 hrs

Subject(s) entered a side gate of a residence in the 900 block of North Royal Poinciana Boulevard by removing a lock and chain that had secured the gate. Once in the rear yard, approximately twenty areca palm trees were cut down. Total amount of damage is $1,000.00.

1424 hrs

Subject(s) gained entry into a residence in the 900 block of Ludlam Drive by kicking in the front door. Once inside, a jewelry box and a laptop were removed, with an estimated loss of $20,500.00.

0042 hrs

Unknown subject(s) removed a motorcycle from the parking lot of an apartment building in the 800 block of South Royal Poinciana Boulevard. The estimated loss is $6,000.00.
