Suspicious person reported at Terrace Middle School. Law Enforcement responded immediately. School uninterrupted.
On Thursday, January 13, 2011, at approximately 1030 hours, the police department, including a campus police officer and a police detective, responded to a report of a suspicious person, matching the vague description of a previously reported suspicious person who followed a student home from school last week, on campus of the Terrace Middle School. The initial report was made by two students to school staff that, in turn, reported it to law enforcement. A search of the area was performed almost immediately after the initial report with negative results.
Further investigation revealed conflicting description and activity information. This department could neither confirm nor deny that the suspect or suspects, which is still unclear, were not students from one of the ajoining campuses. The Lakeport Police Department and Lakeport Unified School District reacted immediately to the information. All leads have been exhausted in this matter and regular school activities were not interrupted.
Parents of school age children are encouraged to educate them on "Stranger Danger" and reporting suspicious activities regarding strangers and strange behavior to adults/officials/law enforcement as they are occuring or immediately thereafter.
