PROSTITUTION STING NETS 26-ARRESTS

Modesto, CA – The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department arrested 26 men last Friday evening for prostitution solicitation during the course of a “John” sting operation on South 9th Street.

In an effort to take a proactive approach to law enforcement, and to curb the ever-present drug and prostitution problems which continue to plague the South Modesto area, community deputies with the Sheriff’s Department planned and implemented an operation targeting those who solicit prostitutes for sex. By utilizing female deputy decoys, whom were dressed in plainclothes at the time, a sting was conducted at the California Inn. The motel is located at 1130 S. 9th Street.

The operation lasted 10-hours and resulted in the arrest of 26-men, all of whom attempted to pay the decoys a certain amount of money for sexual favors. As a result of those arrests, and to ensure property was safeguarded against theft or vandalism, 23-vehicles were towed from the parking lot of the California Inn as well. All arrests were made without incident and no contraband was recovered.

Those who were arrested for a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct/prostitution include the following: Gustavo Rodriguez, 23, Alex Miller, 39, Reynol Celestino, 19, Alfonso Cortes, 38, Lucio Simao, 44, Victor Perez, 28, Bobby Carrillo, 33, Armando Morales, 38, Jaziel Hernandez, 35, Jason De la Guardia, 33, Oscar Cruz, 25, Paramdeep Poonian, 25, Wendell Sherman, 38, Felipe Barraza, 43, Jesus Marin, 36, Hector Chavez, 40, Qasim Khan, 38, Hector Vargas, 32, Justo Covarrubias, 40, Joel Delgado, 43, Roberto Campos, 42, Armando Jimenez, 48, Jose Garcia, 32, Steven Sigala, 52, Alex Lopez, 37 and John Plazola, 43.

Each person arrested was transported to the Stanislaus County Men’s Jail, booked on the prostitution charge and was being held in lieu of $1,000 in bail. Their booking photographs have been attached to this press release for reader convenience.
